Shoot Your Dad 2011 ~ father's day photography perth ~

We are excited and proud to announce that we will be running our hugely popular "Shoot Your Dad" fundraiser again this year :)

All proceeds will go directly to the Cancer Council of WA to support their excellent work. We have sadly both lost our mothers and this is our way of helping those affected by cancer.

Do you have a favourite photo of your Dad? They are usually the ones taking the photos and shy away from the camera but here's your opportunity to change that.

Saturday 3rd of September is the day! It's the day before Father's Day and we will be in Hyde Park all day shooting Dads!

For a small donation of $50 to the Cancer Council you will get a 20 minute "mini shoot" and a beautifully presented 8" x 12" print of your favourite photograph from the day. This is valued at $185.

Baby Santa says "Merry Christmas" everyone!

We would like to take this opportunity to say thanks so much to all our wonderful clients in 2010! We have had an awesome year, taken some amazing photos and welcomed a new little member into the DeRay Simcoe family. Here is Diane's little daughter Evangeline wishing everyone a very merry Christmas!

 

 

The office is officially closed from Friday 24th December till Tuesday 4th January while we have a little break. Looking forward to seeing you all in the New Year...

Shoot your Dad! ~father's day photography perth~

Father's Day is coming up soon...how many of you have a lovely photo of you and your Dad? We all know they hate having their photo taken!

You never know what tomorrow will bring your way and life is quickly racing by.  Make 2010 the year when you remember what’s important and make family photography a priority.

We are offering you the opportunity to have a photo shoot with your dad including a beautiful print valued at $110 for only $30! All proceeds from the day will benefit the WA Cancer Council.

 

We have sadly both lost our mothers to cancer and wish we could go back in time and have one special photo of them.This is our way of supporting those living with cancer and reminding everyone that photos are so important when you have lost your loved ones.

The priority for your photo shoot is a photo with Dad and his kids (young or old!). You may include other generations if you wish such as grandfathers and great grandfathers. If there is time you may wish to have a photo of Dad on his own, the kids on their own or the whole family including Mum. Please note this is a mini shoot only and there will not be time for many different groupings especially if young children are involved.

Announcing the arrival of Kerah April ~newborn photography perth~

I have many nieces and nephews! This is the latest addition to the family, beautiful little Kerah April aged 3 weeks.

She has so much hair! She is doing her "Dr Evil" pose here...

Her brother Troy and sister Manisha are so proud of her, it's lovely.

They are both very photogenic also.

Announcing the arrival of Riley James ~ baby photography perth ~

You may already know that I have lots of neices and nephews, they are so much fun! Here's the latest arrival to our family, Riley James. He lives in Busselton but popped into the office for a 4 week photo shoot on Monday.

He loves to have his hands up near his face. We tried to swaddle him for a cute sleepy baby photo but we only got a couple of photos before they popped out again!

 

Congratulations to my brother David, his partner Liz and their adorable toddlers Reegan and Brodie on the arrival of Riley.

It's lovely that my new bub will have so many cousins close in age, it will be baby number 6 in three years in my family when I have my baby in February.

Paper aeroplanes

My husband and I looked after 3 of our nieces and nephews on the weekend... one of the best activities was making paper aeroplanes! We have a juliet balcony off our second storey bedroom (otherwise known as the balcony to nowhere!).

The kids had a while to experiment with different plane designs and we flew them out the bedroom door. It was hilarious!

 

Afterwards I managed to grab a shot of the three kids together:

A split second after this shot the youngest copped an elbow to the head and it was all over...

The meaning of my job...

I have been thinking a lot in the past week about the meaning of being a family photographer. Especially in light of the recent tragic events in Victoria where so many people lost their lives and others lost everything they owned.

I was reminded of a photo I found while on a trip to New Zealand to visit my family in 2007. It was taken at my own parent's wedding in 1969 of my grandparents. The proud mother and father of the groom on the steps outside the church:

I LOVE this photo of my Grandma and Grandpa, it has such a timeless look for me and reminds me of the photos I take every weekend of proud parents at weddings. The photographer was CH Parks of "The Fashion Centre Arcade" in Lower Hutt New Zealand.

This photo also illustrates the reason why I love this job, I found this photo in a shoebox at my grandparent's house and it is so precious to me. I only hope that one day a long-lost photo I have taken will be rediscovered and loved like this one.

I also hope that those who have lost loved ones at any time have wonderful natural photos of them that they can treasure and that bring back happy memories.

My grandpa is still alive, he is now 94. He and my grandma were married for over 60 years but she sadly passed away in 2007. Here is one of the last photos taken of her in her garden (don't think she was actually using the chainsaw at the age of 89 but she was a wonderful gardener).

Apologies about the quality of the photo, it was taken on an old camera of my grandpa's which took two frames per 35mm negative! He was always very frugal and figured this was a way to use half as much film!

I would love to hear from other people about their most treasured photos.
